Ronaldo Shines as Al Nassr Beat Al Hilal 3-1 in Saudi Clasico Thriller
In a fiery edition of the Saudi Clasico, Cristiano Ronaldo led Al Nassr to a thrilling 3-1 victory over rivals Al Hilal on Friday night, reigniting their hopes in the Saudi Pro League title race.
Played at the King Fahd International Stadium, the match saw both teams put on an intense show, but it was Al Nassr who walked away with bragging rights thanks to a brace from their Portuguese superstar.
The match began with Al Nassr taking the lead through midfielder Ali Al Hassan, who scored in the first half with a smart finish inside the box. Al Hilal responded after the break, with defender Ali Al Bulayhi leveling the score in the 62nd minute via a powerful header.
However, it was Ronaldo who stole the spotlight. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner regained the lead for Al Nassr with a sharp goal and later sealed the win in the 88th minute, converting a penalty after a VAR review confirmed a handball inside the area.
The result moves Al Nassr to third place in the standings with 54 points, cutting the gap to second-place Al Hilal to just three points and keeping the pressure on league leaders Al-Ittihad, who are currently seven points ahead.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance not only helped his side take a crucial win but also silenced critics who doubted his impact in high-stakes matches against top opposition in the league.
“This was a statement win,” said Al Nassr head coach Luís Castro after the match. “We showed character, and Cristiano once again delivered when it mattered most.”
The victory injects fresh energy into Al Nassr’s title ambitions as the season heads into its decisive stages.
